Getting to Florina
In part 1, I shared how I landed in Thessaloniki and took a bus to Kastoria. Once in Kastoria, I met up with some of the tourism representatives and they were able to take me from Kastoria to Florina, but there are a few options for you!
You could either take a bus from Kastoria to Florina, rent a car, or take a cab! It is such a beautiful drive winding through the mountains getting from Kastoria to Florina, and there is a bunch of activities for you to complete along the way.

Arcturos Bear Sanctuary
Nestled in the tranquil village of Nymfaio, Greece, lies the remarkable Arcturos Bear Sanctuary. This extraordinary haven is where rescued bears are given a second chance to live in a safe and natural environment after years of captivity. As you stroll through the sanctuary's sprawling grounds, you're greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of these majestic creatures roaming freely and at peace. The dedicated team at Arcturos works tirelessly to ensure the well-being and rehabilitation of each bear, striving to create a space that fosters their physical and emotional recovery. It's a place where visitors not only witness the spectacular beauty of these incredible animals but also learn about the importance of wildlife conservation and the efforts being made to protect them. The Arcturos Bear Sanctuary is an enchanting destination that immerses you in the magnificence of nature while igniting a deep sense of compassion for these magnificent creatures. There are over 22 bears at this rescue, who have all been rescued for different reasons but all have one common goal - to live out their life happily and healthily. These bears are unable to live in the wild because they have been either zoo animals, circus animals or peoples “pets”, so they aren’t fit to fend for themselves. Rescues such as these are so important to the safety of bears across the globe. This was hands down the highlight of my trip.
