Stay at Mount Engadine Lodge

I was grateful to partner with Mount Engadine Lodge to showcase this lovely glamping spot in the middle of the Canadian Rockies!

Mount Engadine Lodge is nestled in the Rockies of Alberta, near the Spray Lakes and just off Smith Dorrien Trail. It is a small, quaint accommodations spot that can host you in their lodge, cabins, glamping tents or yurts! We had the priviledge of staying in one of their glamping gents for a night and our experience and expectations were met beyond belief. Between the scenery, the hospitality and the accommodations itself, we couldn’t of asked for a better stay.

How to Get to Mount Engadine Lodge

There are two ways you can reach Mount Engadine — one way is through Kananaskis, and the other is through Canmore. Our phones have mapped out that the route through Kananaskis is quicker than the other, but both ways are equally as nice.

To arrive through Kananaskis, turn off of Hwy 1 onto Hwy 40 towards Kananaskis Village. You will drive pass the village and towards Kananaskis Lakes. You will come to Kananaskis Lakes Trail, which you will turn onto and take until get to the Smith Dorrien Trail Junction. Turn onto Smith Dorrien Trail, and you will drive for approx. 30 mins. Mount Engadine Lodge will be on the left hand side, at the same turn off as the Mount Shark Trailhead!

We decided to head home through Canmore. You can also arrive this way too. Its a little bit more complicated because you have to either go through Canmore, or bypass it, but you’ll have service so you can maps whichever route works best for you! You’ll pass the Spray Lakes Reservoir which has some great views!

The Lodge

When we arrived, our tent wasn’t quite ready so we drove up the road to check out Mt Shark Trailhead as I was hiking to Mt Assiniboine the following weekend! After about 30 minutes we returned and our tent was ready! Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were very informative and friendly. Right after we checked in, we placed our drink order to accompany afternoon tea & charcuterie, and then we were accompanied to our tent. We had asked if there was any availability at the firepit because you must make a reservation and unfortunately there were no times available so I highly suggest calling before your reservation dates to ensure you can get the time slot you desire!

Mount Engadine Lodge

We stayed in Tent #4, which had a perfect combination of sunshine and shade, which we were incredibly grateful for as we went in the middle of a heatwave! Our tent was clean, and presented so nicely. I was happy to see all the toiletry products in the room were Rocky Mountain Soap Co. We had settled in, and got our clothes set away. By that time, our food and drinks had arrived which we enjoyed on our private balcony while soaking in the sun. Food is normally served in a communal dining room, but due to Covid, it is now served to your room. After we finished our food, we decided to explore around a little and check out the platform down near the river. It was so hot, we decided to throw on our bathing suits and go for a swim in the river and it was so refreshing!

After we swam, relaxed, made friends and had a few drinks, it was time for dinner. We were served duck, salad, rice, veggies and cheesecake for dessert. Everything was so delicious that I didn’t even think to take a picture before devouring our food! Oops. After they cleaned our dishes, we just relaxed on our balcony most of the evening, and explored around the bridge area a little. We enjoyed watching the sunset behind Tent Ridge, and even got views of a large, beautiful Moose grazing in the field. I should also say, I can’t even express how comfy these beds are when it was time to go to sleep!

In the morning, we were woken up with a delicious breakfast served to us. From the waffles, to the bacon, to the fresh fruit, everything was so exceptional! We were so sad that it was already time for us to check out and head home. We gathered our things and checked out, not forgetting to grab our packed lunch which we were able to choose what we wanted the night before! I must say, best sandwich I had ever had!

Overall — I was blown away by the hospitality and the service I received while staying at Mount Engadine. I cannot wait to return!

Things To Do near Mount Engadine Lodge

On our way into the Lodge, we actually decided to do a super early sunrise hike at Yates Mountain/Barrier Lake. We started at 3:30 am and wishing we started a little earlier! We had tons of fun and the views were absolutely incredible!

After we slept in the car for a bit, we made our way to the Kananaskis Village for breakfast at the Pomeroy, and then continued on to Kananaskis Lakes. There are tons of easy hikes in the area — some easy ones that I love are Marl Lake, Upper Kananaskis Lake Trail, Upper Kananaskis Falls, Lower Kananaskis Lakes, Rawson Lake. We decided to set up the hammock along the shores of Upper Kananaskis Lakes and it truly was like paradise. I highly suggest going on a week day!

Once you decide to make your way down the Smith-Dorrien Trail to Mt Engadine, you can make some stops and/or hikes at the Black Shale Suspension Bridge, Chester Lake, Black Prince Cirque, Warspite Lake, Burstall Lakes, Rummel Lake & Tent Ridge. On our way home we decided to stop at Goat Pond to relax for a bit before continuing on our long drive back to Edmonton. It was so worth it!

Thank-you again to Mount Engadine for hosting me, and giving me an incredible experience. I cannot wait to be back.
