There are tons of options when it comes to choosing where to stay in Banff. I have stayed at many of the accomodations in Banff but nothing compares to the hospitality I received while being hosted at the Moose Hotel & Suites. When I first arrived, the concierge recognized me, even with my mask on, from my last trip 4 months prior and made a point to ask about my trip and what I’ll be doing. All staff are very assuring that they are able to assist with all of your needs. Rooms were spacious, clean, cozy and all came with a patio or balcony so you can enjoy the outdoor views, given it’s not too cold being winter! Although due to Covid, pools and hot tubs are closed, I was able to still enjoy myself by cozying up to the fireplace in my room. Sit-down dining was restricted during the duration of my trip, but the Moose has a lovely on-site Italian Restaurant, Pacini, open for your breakfast and dinner requests! Overall, Banff Lodging Co always ensures you enjoy your stay any time you are a guest of them and makes sure your “temporary home” lives up to your expectations. If you’ve ever wanted to stay here, now is the time with Banff Lodging Company’s “Choose Your Winter” 20% off deal!

Places to Explore around the Town of Banff
There are tons of “hidden”, or not so hidden, gems around the Town of Banff that make it easy to explore in the winter. Usually in the winter in the mountains we are experiencing extremely cold temperatures which makes it super intimidating to actually get out and do any form of exploring. I’ve compiled a list of little places to check out, take your photos, and stay close to the warm vehicle on cold winter days. Here’s the list, now do the rest of your own research!
Bow River Lookout
Surprise Corner
Sundance Canyon
Vermillion Lakes
Tunnel Mountain Drive
Cascade Ponds
Johnson Lake
Two Jack Lake
Lake Minnewanka
Stewart Canyon
If you’re from Banff, or regularly travel here, you’ll likely know most of the spots and they can be super boring for some people, but if you go at the right time, it could be the most beautiful spot on earth.
Where to eat in Banff National Park
Although one may not go to Banff specifically for the food, you’ll be leaving with a handful of restaurants you need to try next time you return!
There are tons of options to pick from for places to eat in Banff, and the best part is, whether it’s a distillery or high-end eatery, 90% of the restaurants in town are a local business and we love supporting local! I’ve ate at my fair share of restaurants, and here is a list to a good variety of favourites:
1888 Chophouse (Fairmont Banff Springs) $$$$ - An upscale, fine dining restaurant with a modern twist focused on prime cures of Alberta Beef, sustainably sourced wild game & Ocean Wise seafood
Balkan $$$ - Upbeat Mediterranean influenced restaurant featuring traditional Greek dishes
Bear Street Tavern $$ - Rustic, laid-back Canadian Grub Pub. Featured on Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here”
Park Distillery $$$ - Mesquite-grilled meats & small-batch spirits in an outdoorsy, rustic space
Magpie & Stump $$ - Classic Mexican-fare in a relaxed eatery heart of Banff
Banff Ave Brewing Co. $$ - Brewpub for all things pub - beer, burgers, steak & pizza
Aardvark Pizza $ - Late-night kitchen offering pizza, subs, poutine and other comfort-fare food.
